What a joyful week before Thanksgiving! Our kindergarteners dove into hands-on learning—hand-painted turkeys, creating “feathers of thankfulness,” making friendship bracelets, and even baking their very own apple pie treats. It was a wonderful time to explore, create, and celebrate together

Big congratulations to Randy Edwards for earning an honorable mention in the NC School Board Association Elementary Poster Contest — and a special recognition for Ms. Brielle Ridley for demonstrating the monthly character trait of kindness! We are so proud of these students and the positive example they set.

Students in Mrs. Beach's class read Balloons Over Broadway and then built an entire street! Next, each student designed their own parade balloon and used magnets to push or pull it down the parade route. It was a fantastic mix of reading, design, and hands-on STEAM learning.

Mrs. Beach & Mrs. Knox recently presented at the EC conference in Greensboro. They showcased the Exceptionally STEAM initiative that brings science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to students with disabilities served in self contained settings. They discussed aligning extended content standards and developing pacing guides to make instruction meaningful and manageable. Mrs. Beach demonstrated how she uses AI to create interactive books and embed core board vocabulary for students with limited verbal skills, and Mrs. Knox shared powerful collaborative activities between her students and students in the Martin Innovative Elementary Program.

Mrs. Wilder’s kindergarten students learned letter and sound recognition by playing Boom Boom Clap Clap — a high-energy game that mixed movement, rhythm, and phonics practice. Seeing them clap, chant, and cheer while identifying letters was pure classroom magic!
