Did someone say team spirit + story time? 😊 Today WPS welcomed the Martin County High School varsity baseball team as special guest readers for our 2nd graders as part of Read Across America week. It was such a joy to see athletes sharing books, smiles, and encouragement with our students.

Our Exceptionally STEAM students spent the day at Athletic Edge in Washington, diving into hands-on activities, playing with friends, and making memories. They wrapped up the perfect day with lunch at McDonald’s.

Storytime joy in full swing! 📚💫 Mrs. Roberson’s Kindergarten welcomed guest readers from MIEP this week for Read Across America Week — tiny hands, huge smiles, and stories that sparked imagination.

What a heartwarming day in Mrs. Sprouse’s 1st grade! ❤️📚 We welcomed guest readers this week — some of our wonderful MIEP students and officers from the Williamston Police Department joined the class to read and connect with our youngest learners. Seeing kids light up at stories and community members stepping in to support literacy was truly special.

Did someone say story time with a special guest? 📖✨ Mrs. Cowan’s 1st grade class was thrilled to welcome Deputy Justin Harrell from the Williamston Police Department this week! We’re so grateful for our community partners who joined several guest readers as we celebrated Read Across America Week.

Our students had a fantastic time watching the Chinese New Year parade put on by MIMS students from Riverside Middle School. The costume designs were so creative and inspired — a big thank you to MIMS for visiting WPS and sharing this celebration with us!

Who’s ready to spread some kindness? Thanks to the vision of three amazing students — Layla Harris, Phebe Bland, and Lilley Toppin — WPS launched its FIRST Friendship Club this morning! We’re so proud of these young leaders for making sure everyone has a friend. 🧡

The Friendship Club is open to all 2nd–5th graders and meets twice a month at 7:15 AM in the media center. Our next meeting is scheduled for March 10.

Our STEAM students had a blast at Imagination Station & Wilson History Museum! From a room-sized globe to a live bee hive, hands-on exhibits sparked curiosity and creativity.

Did someone say appreciation? Today we paused our schedules to celebrate Officer Pearson for School Resource Officer Appreciation — and we’re so thankful for everything he does for our school every single day.

Joy in every board! Kindergarten students in Mrs. Wilder's class showed off their dictation boards during our Reading Horizons lesson — hands-on practice, big smiles, and real progress!

Attention parents of bus riders: To ensure students have time for breakfast and are ready for instruction by 8:00 AM, morning bus arrival times will be a few minutes earlier starting this week.

Big shoutout to Arianna Hines! She was recognized tonight at the MCS Board Meeting as WPS Character of the Month for perseverance — Arianna shows up, works hard every day, and inspires us all.

For the 100th day of school, Ms. Gray’s 2nd graders transformed their classroom into NASA Headquarters for an out-of-this-world escape room challenge! Students worked in teams to crack math clues, steer their missions, and earn official NASA Agent Badges with top security clearance. What a fun way to celebrate 100 days of learning — and build teamwork and problem-solving skills along the way.

How lucky are we to have such dedicated bus drivers? This week we celebrated them with a grab and go breakfast, Crumbl Cookie treats, a donated gift card from Cakes by Becky, and a very special Buffalo Nickel as a token of our appreciation.

Just like the buffalo on this coin, you are symbols of strength and steadiness—braving all kinds of weather and traffic to keep our children safe. You truly are the “engine” that keeps our school running smoothly. Thank you for carrying our most precious cargo every day!
