Today we celebrate our incredible school nurses, Mrs. Wanda Taylor and Mrs. Julie Thomas, who care for our Cubs with so much heart, compassion, and skill! From skinned knees to big feelings, they handle it all with patience, professionalism, and a warm smile.
Thank you both for being the calm in the chaos, the Band-Aid experts, the listening ears, and the health heroes we rely on every day! Rodgers Elementary is so lucky to have you! 💛💙You are truly the heartbeat of our school!

RES is so lucky to have four amazing ladies who help keep our students full and smiling every day - Ms. Vickie Peele, Ms. Margaret Thompson (not able to be with us today), Ms. Ruby Everette, and Ms. Robin Perry. Breakfast and lunch are truly special times at RES thanks to these caring and hardworking women who serve with kindness and a smile! We’re proud to celebrate them on School Lunch Hero Day and everyday! 💙
It’s always a fun and engaging time in Mrs. Draper’s and Mrs. Lockamy’s rooms! Whether students are learning to read by mastering phonics rules, solving math problems, or enjoying Fun Friday with lollipops and LEGOs, they are growing and achieving every single day!
Rodgers Elementary is proud to recognize Mrs. Angela Adams as our Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year! Mrs. Adams is often the first smiling face to greet anyone who walks into our school, and she makes everyone feel welcome. She’s kind, organized, and truly keeps things running smoothly each day. Our staff, students, and families appreciate her more than words can say!

Martin County School's newest LETRS cohort completed their 8th and final LETRS professional development training on Friday after an extensive 2-year study on explicit and systematic literacy practices.
We thank these teachers for their dedication to growing and learning while teaching their students daily. Thank you to Ellen Mizell, NC DPI Early Literacy Specialist for facilitating these sessions and pouring knowledge into our educators daily.

First and Second grade students will be performing. The Parent Involvement Committee of the MCS Community Coalition will offer free training for students and parents on Thurs,, March 20. Picture money is due by Fri., March 21! Mon., March 24 there is no School for students/Teacher Workday. Tues., March 25 Parent Teacher Conferences will be held from 10:00-7:00.

Third grade students will be taking the IQ test on Monday and Tuesday of this week. We would like to wish our Battle of the Books team good luck at the district competition which will take place on Wednesday. There is no school on Friday, March 14 as this will be a teacher workday. Make plans now to attend our Spring PTA and performance on Tuesday, March 18 at 6:00. First and Second grade students will be performing. Thank you for your continued support of RES! We kicked off Read Across America week with Hat Day on Monday! Hat's Off to Reading!
Mrs. Stokes' 3rd graders completed these projects after reading "Oh …. The Places You’ll Go !" by Dr. Seuss.

This week we will be celebrating Read Across America week. Please see our post on social media for daily activities. Also, this week we will kick off our Kids Heart challenge. Information was sent home about this and you can also use the link on FB to support this effort. Kindergarten registration will be held at the Innovation Campus on Wednesday, March 5 from 12 to 7pm and on Thursday, March 6 from 8 to 2. Due to predicted ice and snow, Martin County Schools will hold a virtual learning day for students on tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19th. Learning packets were sent home with all students today! Teachers will also post assignments in ClassDojo and/or in Google Classroom. These packets must be turned in when students return to school in order for them to be counted present for the school day. Please reach out to your child’s teacher via email or ClassDojo if you have any questions or if you need assistance! Please stay safe!
