Mrs. Horodyski’s 8th grade Career Exploration class has been studying the Health Science Career Cluster. Today, students had the opportunity to experience a hands-on activity focused on basic suturing techniques. During the activity, students applied what they have been learning by practicing how medical professionals stitch skin together. This engaging experience allowed students to test their skills and gain a better understanding of the precision and care required in many healthcare careers.

Proud of the leadership skills our MIMS students showed on Friday. They presented to the leaders of a technology company about all the ways they use STEAM, specifically technology in the classroom.

Our MIMS students took learning on the road today with an exciting trip to North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores followed by a beach picnic at Fort Macon State Park.
Throughout the day, students enhanced their science skills through hands-on experiences. They got their hands dirty while learning how to test water quality, explored the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, and discovered fascinating facts about sea turtles. Students also enjoyed shelling along the shore and touring the aquarium to observe a wide variety of marine life up close.
This trip was a perfect example of STEAM learning in action. Students applied Science by testing water quality and studying marine habitats. Technology and Engineering were explored through the tools and methods used to monitor coastal environments and protect wildlife. Art came into play as students observed the natural beauty and patterns found in shells and marine organisms. Finally, Mathematics was used while analyzing data and understanding measurements related to water quality and ecosystems.
Experiences like this allow students to connect classroom learning with the real world, encouraging curiosity, exploration, and a deeper understanding of the environment around them. It was a great day of discovery, teamwork, and unforgettable memories!
Special thanks to the Aquarium Scholars Grant that helped to make this experience more affordable for our students.

Our 8th grade MIMS historians went beyond the textbook and stepped straight into the trenches of World War I!
Students were challenged to identify a real problem soldiers faced during trench warfare — then design a practical solution. After analyzing conditions like constant rain, poor visibility, contaminated water, and limited communication, they got to work as engineers and innovators.
Their ideas were impressive and creative: drying stations to combat the relentless mud, advanced spy telescopes for safer reconnaissance, water filtration systems to improve sanitation, and even underground pipe systems to move keep the trenches cleaner.
History + critical thinking + innovation = learning brought to life! We’re proud of how our students used problem-solving skills to tackle real-world challenges from the past.

MIMS students hit the road today!
They brought lessons about Chinese culture, specifically Chinese New Year, to elementary schools across our county. Students visited South Creek, Williamston Primary, Rodger’s, and Jamesville.
MIMS students enjoyed lunch at Chopsticks Buffet & were given the chance to learn how to eat with chopsticks. 🥢 🐲🐉

Mrs. Daniels' students are working together reviewing Order of Operations by completing Task Cards around the room.

Spread the word about this wonderful community event.

Yesterday was the 100th Day of School! Mrs.Stalls was sure feeling it.

6th grade MIMS students are starting an activity that has become a student favorite: Prepping for their Chinese New Year parade at local elementary schools.
This will be the third year engaging with this cross curriculum project.
The stars of the parades are the animal heads created and designed by our talented art teacher, Nya Moore and her art students.
These creations are made from Amazon boxes, how impressive!!

Our new RMS Library Spotlight is on Italia Passley!
