Good Afternoon Riverside families,
As we closely monitor the potential for inclement weather, we want to share how we are being proactive to support our students and families.
As a precautionary measure, students will receive a paper learning packet to take home. This packet is intended to ensure continuity of learning in the event that school is delayed or canceled due to weather.
In addition, links to each teacher’s assignments will be linked in the inclement weather flyer, so families can easily access digital resources if needed.
Please continue to prioritize safety and stay tuned to local television stations, district communications, and future all-call messages for official updates regarding delays or cancellations.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Stay safe, and we will remain in communication as conditions develop.

Mrs. Horodyski’s students from both the MIMS and Impact pathways explored careers within the health science cluster. During this unit, students learned why vital signs and CPR are so important and practiced basic skills such as taking blood pressure, checking SpO₂ levels, and measuring pulse rate. They also used stethoscopes to listen to classmates’ heartbeats.
Students took turns acting as both the patient and the nurse, giving them hands-on experience from multiple perspectives. They practiced locating the radial pulse on both live and “pretend” patients, checking airways, and performing proper CPR techniques. Overall, the experience gave students practical skills and a better understanding of real-world healthcare careers.

Congrats to Nick Godard — Eastern NC All District Band!
This weekend, 7th grader Nick Godard (RMS band) auditioned for the Eastern NC All District Band — a group of top 7th–8th grade band students from across Eastern NC. After hard work on his required solo and scales, Nick earned a spot in the top band. He was just two chairs away from qualifying to audition for All State — an impressive achievement for a 7th grader. We’re so proud of Nick and excited to see what he does next. Congratulations, Nick!

The Martin County School Band program did an awesome job last night at their annual Christmas Concert. Our students made us proud with a wonderful performance. Their hardwork and lots and lots of practice really paid off. What a great way to get in the Christmas Spirit.

Our MIMS students had a wonderful time hosting Rodgers & Jamesville Elementary for Christmas Around the World over the past two days! Students explored Germany, Spain, and South Africa through engaging, hands-on activities. They learned about the importance of music in South Africa while playing bucket drums, discovered math patterns through candy canes while studying Germany, and explored the story of the Three Kings in Spain—then created their own crowns. It was a fun and meaningful cultural learning experience for everyone involved!
