Also, don't forget about the CandyMan Fundraiser! The due date has been extended to October 1st, so there’s still time to get those orders in and help support our school.

In Ms. Hill's ELA class, students had a blast with a hands-on Grab Bag activity from the Benchmark Advance Reading curriculum! By using their sense of touch to explore mystery items, students engaged in making predictions and discussing their observations. This interactive approach not only sparked their curiosity but also enhanced their ability to make informed guesses and predictions in reading. Kudos to Ms. Hill for bringing such an innovative and tactile experience to her classroom!
Congratulations to Mr. Johnson, our dedicated custodian, for achieving his bus license this week! This accomplishment not only reflects his hard work and commitment but also adds a valuable skill to his impressive repertoire. We're thrilled to celebrate this milestone with him and appreciate all the efforts he puts into making our school a better place. Well done, Mr. Johnson!
Exciting news from Ms. Cumbee's Math class!
This week, students dived into the concept of volume with hands-on learning using the Bridges Math Curriculum's math manipulatives. Ms. Cumbee is guiding her students through engaging activities that make abstract concepts tangible and understandable. By manipulating blocks and exploring different shapes, students are not just learning about volume—they're experiencing it! This practical approach is helping them build a strong conceptual foundation that will support their future math learning. Great job, Ms. Cumbee, for making math both fun and educational!

MCS Odyssey of the Mind
Mrs. Frye is utilizing the Outdoor Classroom and Pollination Garden during PAWS Up and Accelerate time to spark student interest in real-world learning. This daily collaboration with resource teachers provides hands-on experiences, connecting nature to academic growth and helping students see how learning happens beyond the classroom.
Our talented students have been hard at work in art class, creating their very own “folklore animals”! Inspired by stories from around the world, these imaginative creatures are brought to life through colorful artwork and creative writing. Each student has crafted a unique animal, complete with a backstory that showcases their creativity! We are so proud of our young artists and the magic of their imaginations!
Exciting things are happening in STEAM with Mrs. Ellis! Our 4th-grade students are diving into the world of creativity by learning how to design block and bubble letters. This fun and engaging activity helps build fine motor skills, encourages self-expression, and adds an artistic flair to their projects. We can't wait to see their amazing designs!

Our 3rd graders in Mrs. Daniels' class are diving into the world of numbers with an exciting hands-on tool—the abacus! 🧮 This ancient device is helping our students strengthen their mental math skills in a fun and interactive way. By using the abacus, students are not only mastering arithmetic but also fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. It's amazing to see their confidence grow as they explore new ways to approach math! Keep up the great work, mathematicians!

Mrs. Garcia's fifth-grade math class is an excellent example of hands-on learning. Students use cubes to build prisms, which helps them understand volume by physically manipulating shapes. This interactive activity teaches volume and enhances spatial reasoning and critical thinking skills. It's an effective way to make math concepts more concrete and accessible. Supporting innovative teaching methods can significantly engage students and improve their learning experiences.

MCS is building programs and pathways as the 2024-25 school year begins. Current construction is for the Spring Horticulture and Hydroponics program! Students are already enjoying the new Core Construction, Health Science Career Labs, and Natural Resource courses. The BeProBeProudNC Trades Group will be on both campuses next week for a one-of-a-kind student experience in all the trades! We are igniting champions as #MartinOffersMore!
