Summer Trades Camp made the stop today at Martin Community College for Trades Day at MCC! Thank you to Mrs. Natasha Roberson, Director of the MCC Career Center for being our Academic Guide today. Thanks also to Ryal Watkins (Advanced Manufacturing/Welding), Clay Simpson (Industrial Systems/Welding), Guy Leggett III (HVAC), Mary Dalcourt (Equine Technology), Chief Larry Johnson (Fire Academy), and James Barnes (Automotive Technology) for their time, expertise, and instruction with MCS students. MCS Interns are a great example of "Martin Offers More!" They are also a great example to younger students and our constituents for the awesome jobs they are performing as community leaders and business professionals. Martin continues to offer more! Check out the new College and Career Readiness modules for Riverside Middle and the Martin Innovative Middle School. These hands-on learning tools guide MS student pathways into our HS Paxton Patterson labs. More offerings, more everything!
Yesterday our PreK through 2nd grade classes had a wonderful presentation by our guest visitors from the North Carolina Symphony. They learned about various instruments and even got to see Mrs. Howard play. What a great experience for our students!

Martin County Schools students engage in 3rd Annual Career & College Fair! Over 50 vendors that included the industries of construction, agriculture, science, technology, broadcasting, healthcare, boatbuilding, public works, masonry, finance, and pest management to college admission specialists and branches of the military were on display for MCS 7th-12th graders. Students were provided an informative presentation by Chief Larry Johnson of the MCC Fire Academy. MCS currently has students enrolled in the Jr. Firefighter and Exploration programs through Williamston Fire/Rescue. Firefighters and Rescue personnel are in need nationally.
Brendan Mobley, a 2020 MCS graduate employed by Oak Ridge Industries, Inc. (Washington, NC), demonstrates the art of TIG welding to students in Ag Mechanics I & II.
5th grade Career Awareness students received an update on the new Martin Innovative Middle School, the opportunities in our CTE program, new middle school CTE course offerings, and the Feb. 6th Better Together event showcasing the new Martin County Schools! No one else around offers what we do. #CTEmonth

5th-grade students at SCES discussed their favorite future jobs and the marketplace in Martin and surrounding counties. Through understanding Career & Technical Education (CTE) and the opportunities within MCS, students are on an early pathway to success!
