For the month of February, our character trait was Integrity. At the end of the month our teachers nominated a student from each of their rooms to be entered as the overall winner. Our school wide winner is Joshua from Mrs. LaFranque's room. He was celebrated at tonight's BOE meeting! Congratulations to all of our nominees. Congratulations again Joshua! -------------------------------------- Para el mes de febrero, nuestro rasgo de carácter fue Integridad. Al final del mes, nuestros profesores nominaron a un estudiante de cada una de sus aulas para ser inscrito como el ganador general. Today our Kindergarten students attended the "I Like Me" event at the Innovation Campus. They got to spend time with guest readers and learn all about Martin County. -------------------------------------- Hoy nuestros estudiantes de jardín de infantes asistieron al evento "I Like Me" en el Campus de Innovación. Pudieron pasar tiempo con lectores invitados y aprender todo sobre el condado de Martin.

As Mr. Bennett continues his Farm to Table lessons during Agriculture classes through Discovery Academy, students learned all about how cheese is made and today, they got to sample various types of cheese and charted the one they liked best. Thank you Mr. Bennett for such a great hands on learning activity. -------------------------------------- Mientras el Sr. Bennett continúa con sus lecciones de Farm to Table durante las clases de Agricultura a través de Discovery Academy, los estudiantes aprendieron todo sobre cómo se hace el queso y hoy, pudieron probar varios tipos de queso y trazar el que más les gustaba. Chapter 4 solid, liquid or gas? Yesterday in science we talked about how some solids and liquid can take the shape of the container it is in. We tested wood, vegetable oil, water, and play-doh to see if it would take the shape of the container.
We watched a video on how crayon can melt to a liquid and also how a candle can melt into a liquid and then back to a solid.
These kids love hands on experiments.

Congratulations to Shakur from Mrs. Bryant-Stokes class for being nominated as SCES's Cougar of the Month. He was celebrated along with all the other schools' nominees at tonight's BOE meeting! 2nd Grade visited Tryon Palace today learning all about how North Carolina got its start and learned how New Bern was the original state capital. Such a fun time. -------------------------------------- 2nd Grade visitó el Palacio de Tryon hoy aprendiendo todo sobre cómo Carolina del Norte comenzó y aprendió cómo Nueva Berna era la capital del estado original. Un momento tan divertido.

Today was the 100th day of school. We had some 5th grade greeters outside this morning with posters and lollipops and students dressed like they were 100. It was a great day! -------------------------------------- Hoy fue el día número 100 de clases. Tuvimos algunos recepcionistas de quinto grado afuera esta mañana con carteles y piruletas y estudiantes vestidos como si tuvieran 100 años. ¡Fue un gran día!

¡Hola, Cougars!
Aquí tenéis el boletín informativo de esta semana. ¡Que tengáis una semana estupenda!

Super Bowl LX. Graphing Mrs. T Williams 2nd grade class made predictions on who would win Superbowl LX. Students voted on which team they thought would win.  Then they had to collect and graph the votes. What an awesome way to make math apply to the real world! -------------------------------------- Super Bowl LX. Gráficos La clase de segundo grado de la Sra. T Williams hizo predicciones sobre quién ganaría la Superbowl LX. Los estudiantes votaron sobre qué equipo pensaban que ganaría. Luego tuvieron que recoger y graficar los votos. ¡Qué manera tan increíble de hacer que las matemáticas se apliquen al mundo real!

Next Friday we will be hosting a Sneaker Ball for students in 4th and 5th Grades along with 6th grade students from SCMS. Only students in those grades may attend.

The dance will be from 5:30-7:30pm. Tickets are $5 per person presale, $7 per person at the door.

El próximo viernes organizaremos un baile temático de zapatillas deportivas para los alumnos de 4º y 5º grado, junto con los alumnos de 6º grado de SCMS. Solo podrán asistir los estudiantes de estos grados.

El baile será de 17:30 a 19:30. Las entradas cuestan $5 por persona en preventa y $7 por persona en la puerta.

January's Character Trait of the Month was Perseverance. Pushing through the difficult times to ensure you stay focused on the end goal! Each classroom nominated a students they felt best represented perseverance! Congratulations to all of the nominees! Our overall winner for the school is Shakur from Mrs. Bryant-Stokes's class. Great work everyone! We are so proud of each of you!
