South Creek Elementary School

Our 5th grade has been learning about Human Body systems and how they all function and work together. Today our 5th grade was visited by Mrs. Ward's high school Science CTE class and Mrs. Ward's students talked about the various body systems and how they function. They even brought realistic models for our students to see. What an awesome learning experience for our students and also a great way to begin getting them interested in what CTE has to offer our students in the future. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nuestro quinto grado ha estado aprendiendo sobre los sistemas del cuerpo humano y cómo funcionan y trabajan juntos. Hoy nuestro quinto grado recibió la visita de la clase de Ciencias CTE de la escuela secundaria de la Sra. Ward y los estudiantes de la Sra. Ward hablaron sobre los diversos sistemas del cuerpo y cómo funcionan. Incluso trajeron modelos realistas para que los vieran nuestros estudiantes. Qué experiencia de aprendizaje tan increíble para nuestros estudiantes y también una excelente manera de comenzar a interesarlos en lo que CTE tiene para ofrecerles a nuestros estudiantes en el futuro.

Cougars, Don't forget about our Fall In Love With Martin event. This will be held at the Martin County Innovation Campus on Thursday, February 13th (this Thursday) from 6-8pm. This event is floating. We would really love to see you and your students there. For any student that attends, they will earn a free homework pass and earn two paw punches toward being able to attend our next PBIS event. We hope to see you all there!! Are you also looking for the perfect step before Kindergarten for your child? This event is also for you. Our Pre-K team will be on hand to explain everything you need to know about the Martin County Schools Pre-K program! This week is Love the Bus Week! We are showing love to our bus drivers this week and so should you! SCES has the BEST bus drivers in MCS! Mrs. Ham's 4th Grade ELA Classes kicked off learning about Black History Month by Learning about Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream." They then wrote what their dreams are and Mrs. Ham created this wonderful display to showcase their work! What a great project! Great job everyone! Thank you Mrs. Ham for your awesome work with our 4th grade students. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Las clases de ELA de cuarto grado de la Sra. Flagstone Foods, Inc. of Robersonville, a regional snack food manufacturer, visited MCS CTE students recently to discuss the plant's opportunities regarding employment, salary, and the education and skills needed. Mr Tony Hinton, Director of People Transformation, and Ms. Ericca Webb, Production Manager, enlightened students about Flagstone products and career choices. Students were also provided a Planters snack, produced at the Flagstone facility. We appreciate Flagstone Foods and Mr. Hinton for serving on our MCS Career & Technical Education Business & Industry Council.

Our 3rd grade had a visit from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Mobile Planetarium today. We thank the Museum for bringing hands on learning experiences to our students. They really enjoyed the visit. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Nuestro tercer grado recibió hoy una visita del Planetario Móvil del Museo de Ciencias Naturales de Carolina del Norte. Students who sold 10 items or more during our Fall Candy Man fundraiser participated in the Candy Man Carnival today. It was a great time had by all. We are hoping even more students will be able to participate next year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Los estudiantes que vendieron 10 artículos o más durante nuestra recaudación de fondos de Otoño de Candy Man participaron hoy en el Carnaval de Candy Man. Cougars, Please see this great fundraiser being hosted by Odyssey of the Mind. Students can pay $1 to their homeroom teacher on Friday if they would like to wear a hat. All money collected supports all MCS students who participate in Odyssey of the Mind.

Thank you to everyone that attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new playground and attended our Fall Festival. This was such a fun event and we had over 300 attendees. It was such a great night for everyone. The winner of the pumpkin decorating contest will be announced on Monday. Thank you again!
