Martin County FFA members Peyton Rogers and Reagan Cowan's hard work paid off this past Thursday at the Martin County 4-H Livestock Show and Sale. They have been caring for and preparing their goats, Kodak Black and Willie Nelson for more than three months. Peyton Rogers and her goat, Willie Nelson, were crowned Senior Champion Showman and Reserve Medium Weight Market Goat Champion. Reagan Cowan and her goat, Kodak Black, were crowned Senior Reserve Champion Showman and Champion Medium Weight Market Goat Champion. "This was a new adventure for Martin County FFA and to come out on top just made it all worth the challenge", said FFA Advisor Miss Patterson. The girls are already planning for next year's show.

Martin County Schools students engage in 3rd Annual Career & College Fair! Over 50 vendors that included the industries of construction, agriculture, science, technology, broadcasting, healthcare, boatbuilding, public works, masonry, finance, and pest management to college admission specialists and branches of the military were on display for MCS 7th-12th graders. Representatives Tolson and Speight from Edgecombe-Martin EMC spoke to students about career opportunities within their departments and the EMC Line Tech Camp for grades 9-12 coming up for MCS on April 18th.
March Madness was in full swing at SCMS. Students created their own teams for our March PBIS event. We had some great battles and close games but the 8th grade prevailed to be crowned champions!
7th and 8th graders visited the MCS College and Career Fair at the Innovation Campus. Students were able to speak with local businesses and colleges about the opportunities that await them after graduation.
7th grade students are using Makeu Makey technology to create closed circuits and make music on the computer with play dough. .
SCMS 8th graders enjoyed an ice cream surprise this afternoon for working so hard and showing so much growth on our most recent benchmark assessments! Way to guys!
I-Ready March Madness is heating up at SCMS! The Final Four for each subject was announced this morning! Congratulations to the advancing homeroom classes!
Tim Manning, VP of Manning Masonry, Inc. and alumnus of Martin County Schools, spoke to CTE, Early College, and interested high school students about opportunities within the masonry and construction business. Manning Masonry, Inc. specializes in turn-key construction while delivering quality projects on time and within budget. The company is sponsoring and will attend the College and Career Fair on March 27th.
Rod Lykins of SkillsUSA visited recently with CTE staff for a Q&A regarding the additional SkillsUSA Comps that are being added to Career & Technical Education courses. Teachers also collaborated on an intro activity for classroom use!

i-Ready March Madness at SCMS! The brackets have been set! Which homerooms have what it takes to be crowned the i-Ready Math and Reading Champions! The homeroom with the most amount of passed lessons at the end of each week will survive and advance until we crown a Reading and a Math Champion. Good Luck to all!

Sergeant Pearson is getting drum lessons from a few of our 6th grade band students.
SCMS students used their detective skills as they worked together as Secret Agents to reclaim stolen classified documents. Students used collaboration skills, creative thinking skills, math skills, and literacy skills to solve the puzzle.
