Pictures can say 1000 words! Students enjoying all the various options at the Career & College Fair held at the MCS Career & Technical Center on the Innovation Campus!

More action shots from the 2025 MCS CTE Career & College Fair!

Another Career & College Fair has come and gone, but we have testimonies of lasting effects from students who take advantage of the opportunities available at the fair. Several former MCS students have been employed by some of the businesses on the vendor floor, including sponsors The Edwards Company, Manning Masonry, Domtar, Lilley International, Martin Enterprises, Martin Chamber of Commerce, and Martin Community College. Thank you to all our vendors and business partners who came out to provide information to students and parents! It was a great day for our students and our CTE Business Partnerships are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jason K. Wynne

MCHS is blessed with great JROTC cadets. They take turns doing the morning announcements for the school and posting/retiring the colors each school day. A big thank you to Capt. McDade and Sgt. Toy for their leadership of are JROTC department.

Thank you to all for the 12th grade guardians that came out to night. Here are some photos from the event. The recording of the session will be on the class of 2024/2025 google classroom soon. Please feel free to reach out to our counseling department for any questions.

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a career planning resource designed to help young people align their strengths and interest to plans after high school graduation. Students in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade can take this test. This assessment is offered at no cost to MCHS students and takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
The ASVAB is also used by the US military for enlistment, but completing the exam does NOT require enlistment or meeting with a recruiter. In fact, results from 10th grade students cannot be used for military enlistment purposes.
The ASVAB assesses knowledge in a wide variety of areas including: general science, word knowledge, mathematics, auto information, mechanical comprehension, arithmetic reasoning, paragraph comprehension, electronics information, shop information, and assembling objects.
The ASVAB is used as a career planning tool, not only for the military but for college and trade paths as well. As stated earlier, it is an aptitude test showing where an individual’s strengths lie. This could lead to students gaining a better understanding of a path they want to pursue.
The ASVAB provides a perfect opportunity for students to practice for other tests, such as the ACT and SAT.
In closing, the ASVAB test has been traditionally known for only taking it if you want to join the military. What we see now is students across the country taking the ASVAB test to glean where their strengths are to assist them in their future plans post high school. It also helps our school staff and assists them on a path in which the student did not see.
That is why taking the exam as a sophomore is important too. It gives the student a baseline of where their strengths are moving forward. For more information about the ASVAB, visit the program websites below:

MCHS is hosting the ASVAB test on the 18th March at 8:00am in the media center. See or email an JROTC Instructor to sign up.
