Students are hard at work in and out of the classroom in the CTE Agriculture and Natural Resources program. Pruning, weeding, and fertilizing are some of the skills gained by working in the campus garden. We provide options for all students. So if you don't have a green thumb to garden, students have constructed and stained beautiful summer picnic tables. Support your local MCS Ag program and FFA by purchasing one of these handcrafted beauties, just in time for the season ($100). Contact Caroline Patterson or Jason Wynne, 252-792-8812. These tables will go fast!

Thank you to Sweet Water Creek Seed Company for sponsoring the Agriscience/FFA Garden at the Career & Technical Center on the Innovation Campus. Not only are our vegetables growing, but our students are too in work-based learning!

Students from Mrs. Revels's Biomedical Tech class participated in hands-on activities through a STEMEast initiative called Industry In Schools. The event, hosted by our partner Martin Community College, provided students from Martin County High, Washington High, Herford County High, and Columbia High Schools a collaborative event in BioPharma!

MCS Career & Technical Education students participated in the Edgecombe-Martin EMC Line Tech Camp yesterday near Tarboro, NC. While at the EMEMC facility, students had hands-on experiences to understand all the processes of an Electrical Line Technician. This type of work-based learning opportunity provides students with relative career investigation, broadening the aspects of the normal pathway. Mr. Albach, MCS Welding Teacher, described the camp as "awesome"!

MCS Career & Tech Ed is training tomorrow's workforce today! Welding Instructor Mr. Albach has students working on vertical welds and angles while Mrs. Patterson's Horticulture I class brings technology to the greenhouse to complete assignments. More action shots from the 2025 MCS CTE Career & College Fair!

Another Career & College Fair has come and gone, but we have testimonies of lasting effects from students who take advantage of the opportunities available at the fair. Several former MCS students have been employed by some of the businesses on the vendor floor, including sponsors The Edwards Company, Manning Masonry, Domtar, Lilley International, Martin Enterprises, Martin Chamber of Commerce, and Martin Community College. Thank you to all our vendors and business partners who came out to provide information to students and parents! It was a great day for our students and our CTE Business Partnerships are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jason K. Wynne

The MCS CTE Career & College Fair is only 1 week away! Thank you to Manning Masonry, Martin County Economic Development, Domtar, Martin Community College, Lilley International, Martin County Chamber of Commerce, Martin Enterprises, and our corporate sponsor, The Edwards Company.

Students took part in FFA's "Drive your Tractor to School Day" last week! Brody Whitaker, Beau Brown, & Landon Stalls took a slower route to school, but it was worth it as they showed the type of agricultural equipment they can operate. Luckily, the modernization of ag equipment now includes a cab on the tractor!

Students are working with the experts in preparation for their SkillsUSA "Crime Scene Inspection" event. Sheriff Drew Robinson, Lieutenant Investigator Roebuck, and SBI Agent Cowan share and show with interested student investigators Jalyn , Kenleigh, & Lonnie . Mrs. Revels (Health Science) brought in these officers to share their knowledge with students and we appreciate their time and coaching!

Flagstone Foods, Inc. of Robersonville, a regional snack food manufacturer, visited MCS CTE students recently to discuss the plant's opportunities regarding employment, salary, and the education and skills needed. Mr Tony Hinton, Director of People Transformation, and Ms. Ericca Webb, Production Manager, enlightened students about Flagstone products and career choices. Students were also provided a Planters snack, produced at the Flagstone facility.
We appreciate Flagstone Foods and Mr. Hinton for serving on our MCS Career & Technical Education Business & Industry Council.

Flagstone Foods of Robersonville, NC visited some of our CTE classes today on the Innovation Campus. Mr. Tony Hinton and Ms. Ericca Webb led the presentations. Students had an opportunity to learn about various career options and products that Flagstone manufactures right here in Martin County. Soon, our seniors will be invited to tour the plant and provided with applications for employment as interested.

Congrats to our MCS CTE Internship students who completed a successful work-based learning experience for the fall semester. 80% of the enrolled students have secured employment in part-time work while in school, or full-time employment post-graduation.
