Riverside Middle School FFA took five participants to the NC Coastal Envirothon on March 17 at Weyerhaeuser's Cool Springs Environmental Center in Ernul. Congratulations to: Natalee Lloyd, Allie Whitaker, Bella White, Andrew Cooke, and Reid Roberson on a job well done!

Envirothon is the most widely recognized hands-on environmental education program in the nation. Envirothon combines in-class curriculum with hands-on field experiences facilitated by resource professionals such as soil scientists, foresters, and wildlife specialists. This intense training culminates in a competition in which teams are tested across five subject areas: Soils/Land Use, Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife, and a current environmental issue.

As first-time participants, advisors were pleased with the fifth-place finish, which qualified the team for the State Envirothon competition. Another new opportunity for our students, another way Martin Offers More!
