To celebrate their success, they enjoyed a special "Fishy Ice Cream Party" complete with ice cream cups, Swedish Fish, and dancing!

Last week, Mrs. Barsanti’s 2nd graders had some special visitors, German exchange students! What a wonderful opportunity for both our students and their visitors to learn from one another, share cultures, and make new connections! Experiences like these remind us that learning goes far beyond the classroom! ❤️🌍

We may be a day late, but we couldn’t let Instructional Coach Day pass without celebrating someone who gives 110% to TWO schools every single day!
Mrs. Stevens serves both Rodgers Elementary and Jamesville Elementary, and her impact is everywhere! She is incredibly knowledgeable about curriculum and instruction, her teachers’ #1 supporter, our Odyssey of the Mind coach, and the creative mind behind the beautiful adult-learning spaces at both schools. She also brings FUN to learning with i-Ready competitions that get students AND teachers excited! 🎉📚
Whatever is needed, she is there, and she gives it her all! ❤️

It was a busy week of whole-group and small-group learning at Jamesville! Students measured with popsicle sticks and Unifix cubes, explored how different addition equations can equal the same number, and even took turns being the teacher! 📏➕🌟
Students also built sentences with friends, played “Pop It Out” word searches, created CVC words that just popped into their brains, and hopped over to read a good book while searching for short vowel words! 📖🔤
So many ways to learn, practice, and have FUN! 🌟👏

🐸🌱 From Tadpoles to Frogs at Jamesville! 🌱🐸
What an amazing learning experience for our 1st graders! Students began by preparing a tadpole habitat and welcoming seven little tadpoles to their classroom. Over the next several weeks, they observed and documented the changes as their tiny tadpoles amazingly grew into frogs! On September 18, they released their last little frog! 🐸💚
Along the way, this project brought STEAM learning to life through science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities connected to their tadpoles and the frog life cycle. 🔬📸🎨

Our JES students have been busy putting technology to work! Kindergarten students used Bee-Bots to practice directional coding and letter recognition, while 1st graders used Bee-Bots for letter recognition and decoding CVC words. 🐝🔤2nd graders took on Indi cars, combining coding with mapping skills as they created their own maps of Jamesville Elementary! 🗺️🚗 So much hands-on learning, problem-solving, and FUN happening in STEAM! 💙✨
