As the school year begins, we are restocking the barnyard at the Career & Technical Center on the Innovation Campus. Our newest Ag teacher addition, Ms. Hailey Eason (seen here), visited the Mobley Family Backyard Bird operation to see their modern chicken coup and several varieties of poultry. The gracious owners, Alan and Jenny Mobley, donated three laying hens to get the Animal Science program off and running. Ms. Eason has lots in store for students and this partnership only enhances the poultry portion of our program. Thank you again to the Mobley Family. Stay tuned and chick-en for more updates!

Students are hard at work in and out of the classroom in the CTE Agriculture and Natural Resources program. Pruning, weeding, and fertilizing are some of the skills gained by working in the campus garden. We provide options for all students. So if you don't have a green thumb to garden, students have constructed and stained beautiful summer picnic tables. Support your local MCS Ag program and FFA by purchasing one of these handcrafted beauties, just in time for the season ($100). Contact Caroline Patterson or Jason Wynne, 252-792-8812. These tables will go fast!

While at the EMEMC facility, students had hands-on experiences to understand all the processes of an Electrical Line Technician. This type of work-based learning opportunity provides students with relative career investigation, broadening the aspects of the normal pathway.
