It may be summer, but many MCS teachers and administrators are in class on Thursday (6/19).
Judy Brunner, author, consultant, and co-founder of Edu-Safe, is facilitating staff training on topics regarding bullying. Dennis Lewis, co-founder, is also in town, assisting with the staff training.
Brunner graciously agreed to host tonight's parent session, which begins at 6 pm at the MCS Innovation Campus.
Thursday evening, Judy Brunner and Dennis Lewis, co-founders of Edu-Safe, facilitated an up-close and personal conversation with parents and students on the topic of Bullying.
MCS teachers from elementary, middle, and high school classrooms attended a second training day, provided by Brunner Friday (6/20). The topic of the day was Restorative Practices.
Restorative Practices focus on building positive relationships and a strong sense of community within schools. The ultimate goal is repairing harm and promoting healing when conflict occurs rather than focusing solely on punishment.
The benefits of restorative practices include: reduced exclusionary discipline (e.g., suspensions), improved student behavior and school climate, enhanced social-emotional skills, and better academic outcomes.
