And there’s MORE!

🚁 Drones. 🧪 Reactions. 🔬 Hands-on learning.

A few more moments from today’s learning adventure at E.J. Hayes! This lesson, the learning, and the community partnerships were made possible by our 5th grade Science teacher, Mrs. Pointe, and our own SRO CPL Terry.

Learning took FLIGHT at E.J. Hayes today!

Our Tigers had some special guests from the Martin County Sheriff’s Department who showed us the power of drone technology — and WOW, did that drone go HIGH! 🚁

We watched it soar 400 feet into the air and could see all the way to Piggly Wiggly! What a view!

Students also got hands-on with science as they explored mixtures and solutions and chemical and physical properties and connected their learning to the real world.

A huge THANK YOU to Investigator Raynor, Investigator Williams, and Sergeant Dalzell for spending time with our Tigers and giving them an experience they won’t forget!
Hands-on learning. Real-world connections. Tigers LEVELING UP!

Tiger Nation is LEVELING UP!

Our teachers are getting intentional about the “WE DO” — the moment when students take on more of the thinking and learning.

During PLCs, teachers are modeling, collaborating, and asking the big question:

What are our students THINKING, SAYING, and DOING?

That’s what growth looks like.
That’s what collaboration looks like.
That’s what putting students at the center looks like.

Keep leveling up, Tiger Nation!

Could its next chapter inspire a young student to fall in love with band?

That clarinet, trumpet, flute—or other band instrument that once filled your home with music—may be ready for an encore.

Martin County Schools’ growing Elementary Band Program is seeking previously loved instruments to help our youngest musicians take their very first steps into the world of music.

We have an immediate need for 1 clarinet, 1 trumpet, and 1 flute, and anticipate additional needs as the program continues to grow.

For a new student, your donated instrument could become more than something they learn to play. It could be the beginning of confidence, creativity, friendships, performances, and a love of music that stays with them for years to come.

🎺 Pass along the music.

Donated instruments may be dropped off at any MCS campus or at MCS Central Office, 407 East Boulevard, Williamston.

Labor Day reminders

Mrs. Speight's 3rd grade Math class read the book "I Promise" and worked in groups to see which group could make the longest paper chain. The class started by planning out what they would need. Each part of the paper chain had to include one fact about someone in the group. They then held them up and compared to see whose was the longest. #LevelUpAndSOAR #PAWSup

And the learning keeps going!

A reminder for NEXT WEEK: There is no school Monday for the holiday. Third graders will take the BOG (Beginning-of-Grade) assessment Wednesday. Friday is a 12:00 noon early release for all students.
