In Mrs. Chawla’s class, small group instruction is all about deep thinking, collaboration, and discovery! Using Background Knowledge Builder texts—both in hard copies and through Benchmark Advance, students engaged in higher-level questioning to expand their comprehension. While Mrs. Chawla’s small group worked on complex discussion prompts, other students took charge of their learning through a Novel Study and wetlands research project. Their independent investigations led to the creation of PowerPoint presentations, allowing them to showcase their findings and strengthen their research skills.
