Martin County Schools now offers NO-COST teletherapy and mental health services for our students. And all at NO-COST to our school district.
Families do not have to wait until school resumes in August to receive support. Services are available now, and parents or guardians may request assistance over the summer!
MCS teams up with Daybreak Health for mental health support
Martin County Schools has entered a partnership with Daybreak Health to provide unlimited, 1:1 teletherapy for students and, when needed, their family members.
This grant-funded partnership is being provided at no cost to Martin County Schools. This is available in addition to the health providers already serving our students. Daybreak Health provides flexible hours, allowing for parent or guardian involvement.
“Our students are facing struggles like no other generation before them,” said Dr. Michelle White, Superintendent of Martin County Schools. “Anxiety, depression, stress, processing grief, and trauma are all conditions that can understandably distract a student from their education.”
Daybreak’s teletherapy program will allow students to quickly access high-quality and culturally relevant care to meet their unique needs.
Daybreak goes as far as trying to match referrals to mental health professionals with similar interests, such as sports, making every effort to build a connection between the student and the provider.
“Daybreak Health will provide a quick, professional response to the diverse needs of our students,” according to Asim McGill, Student Services Coordinator for Martin County Schools. “With access to needed support, we believe more and more of our students will be successful in the classroom.”
The unlimited model, which Martin County Schools has signed on for, allows the district to easily refer any student whom they think could benefit from these services. Parents and guardians may also request a referral for their student.
Teletherapy sessions can start within 1-2 weeks of a referral, with parental consent and at no cost to families.
“We are committed to ensuring every child in Martin County Schools has the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally,” explained Dr. Michelle White, Superintendent of Martin County Schools. “Mental health support has been recognized as a need for our students, and we have worked incredibly hard to find a way to address this critical area. This partnership with Daybreak Health offers the same support to all students, ages 5-19, at no cost to their families and on their schedule. With the limited resources available in our area, this opportunity will be a game changer for our families.”
White added that this is another example of how Martin does and will continue to offer more in the best interest of every child we serve.
“We are thrilled to partner with Martin County Schools in supporting the mental health of their students,” said Alex Alvarado, CEO and Co-Founder of Daybreak Health. “Together, we’re breaking down barriers to care and helping young people thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.”
The launch of this initiative represents a bold step forward in creating safer, healthier learning environments for all students. By increasing access to mental health support, this partnership aims to reduce absenteeism, address behavioral concerns early, and improve overall academic performance.
Counselors throughout Martin County Schools have been trained on the referral process. However, parents and guardians do not have to wait until school is back in session to request teletherapy for their MCS student.
