STEM Camp leads to fun and education

Approximately 60 students were accepted for the Martin County Schools STEM Summer Camp, which is serving rising 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. Sessions are being held this week at the MCS Innovation Campus.

“We are so excited to have such a great turnout,” explained Dr. Shelley West, MCS STEM Coordinator. Participants have come from all parts of the district for the educational camp.

In addition to coordinating the camp, West stepped into an instructor role to allow more students to participate.

She explained, “The students have thoroughly enjoyed discovering the engineering design process, coding with Minecraft Education, flying mini drones, and exploring virtual reality spaces.”

Letters were sent home to currently enrolled MCS students in these grades with information on signing up for the experience.

Information was returned to email addresses on submitted applications.
