Purvis

Renee Purvis, Chair of the Martin County Board of Education, joins the North Carolina School Boards Association Board of Directors. The swearing-in ceremony was held during the annual NCSBA Conference, held November 12-14, in Greensboro.

Although active with the NCSBA, Purvis’ appointment marks the first time the Martin County Board of Education has had representation on its Board of Directors.

“Ms. Purvis brings a wealth of governance experience and a proven ability to foster teamwork and consensus. She is an active listener, a thoughtful decision-maker, and a champion of equity and innovation in public schools,” explained Dr. Michelle White, Superintendent of Martin County Schools.

“Her leadership is characterized by integrity, accountability, and a deep sense of service. These qualities, combined with her strong knowledge of educational policy, uniquely position her to make a positive and lasting contribution as a member of the NCSBA Board of Directors.”

Purvis was first elected to the Martin County Board of Education in 2016 and serves District 5.
