Two very special community partners were recognized for their generosity during the October 6 meeting of the Martin County Board of Education.
Ray Bowen and Steve Cannon, local representatives of Woodmen Life Insurance, presented Martin County Schools with $10,000 check to support the district’s growing Music Program. Their donation will focus on providing instruments for band students in grades four and five.
“This contribution will directly enhance music education opportunities for our students, supporting instruments, resources, and experiences that enrich creativity, expression, and school pride,” explained Andrea Lilley, Chief Officer of Academics and Student Affairs.
Kristi Roberson, PTA President for E.J. Hayes Elementary School, helped orchestrate the donation, bringing the parties together with the district.
Bowen and Cannon were also recognized for their donation of 212 American flags to be displayed in classrooms throughout Martin County Schools. The flags, which have already been distributed, are a tremendous symbol of the unity, community, and shared values that bind our community.
