Good evening, the following is an important reminder from Jamesville Elementary School:
At Jamesville Elementary School, safety of the children, parents and staff, while on campus is a high priority. For the past few months, it has been noticed in the afternoon, that cars in the pickup line continue to come on campus earlier and sit in the pickup line for an extended period of time; as early as 12:30 pm in some cases. When cars arrive on campus this early, the line starts to form early; causing the main walkway to the school to become blocked and not accessible to Emergency Vehicles in the case of an emergency. It is very important that we keep this lane of travel clear throughout the day, so that the emergency vehicles can access the main entrance of the school in a timely manner in the event of an emergency. The emergency vehicles not having immediate access to the front of the school when needed could be crucial in some incidents; therefore creating a safety issue that needs to be addressed.
Starting this Monday February 10th; the people that are picking up the children in the afternoon will not be allowed to start forming the line until 2:30 pm. This time was chosen to minimize the time that the front entrance would be blocked to emergency vehicles. In closing, this change was made with the highest regard of safety for the students and staff of Jamesville Elementary School.
