These are the weekly announcements for September 19, 2022:

  • Progress reports should go out on Monday, September 19 to all students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns.
  • RHS Student Government Class Officer Elections will begin on Monday, September 19 and run through Wednesday, September 21.  The ballot will be a Google Form shared with each grade group.  Freshmen will not receive a ballot due to not having enough students running for the offices.  Please make sure you vote for your representation on the SGA.
  • Any student interested in participating in Battle of the Books, please come see Mrs. Most during Knight Lunch B on Tuesday, September 20
  • Senior t-shirts will go on sale beginning Wednesday, August 31.  Please see Mr. Hollis in room 011.  The price will be $20 for sizes S-XL; 2XL is $22.00; 3XL is $24.00; 4XL is $26.00.  Seniors have until September 26 to pay.  Please bring exact change or check before 1:30 pm.
  • Any student who wishes to run for the 2022 RHS Homecoming Court, Queen, or King needs to fill out a nomination form.  Only Seniors may run for Queen or King.  This Google Form was shared with students on Wednesday, September 14.  Nominations are due by Tuesday, September 20, by 3:00 pm.  Students must have a 2.75 GPA to run for the Court.  See Mr. Hollis if you have any questions.
  • Seniors are reminded that they must show proof of the mandatory meningococcal vaccine booster within the first 30 days of school.  (You received the first one in 7th grade)  Deadline for turning in documentation is 9/29.  You will be unable to attend school after this day without documentation.  Call your primary care provider or health department for an appointment.  Please bring a copy of your immunization record to Tami Spence, School Nurse.
  • The 1 time Senior fees are currently $75 & are payable to Mr. Delph each day by 1:30 pm. This fee covers the cost of your cap & gown unit, as well as other graduation expenses. Fees will increase by $10 at the end of October to $85. 
  • Seniors are reminded to accept the invitation to the Senior Google Classroom to stay up to date with important Senior information. Also, make sure that you complete the CPR training & complete the information for your Cap & Gown measurements as soon as possible.
  • Homecoming t-shirts will go on sale beginning on Wednesday, August 31, through September 26.  Please see Mr. Hollis in room 011.  The price will be $20 for sizes S-XL; 2XL is $22.00; 3XL is $24.00; 4XL is $26.00.  Please bring the exact change or check before 1:30 pm.
  • There will be a Senior Parent Information Night on Tuesday, September 27th in the RHS Media Center @ 6pm. Parents & students are encouraged to come out to learn more about the steps to your child’s post-secondary plans, and also get an overview on the Residency Determination Service & the FAFSA. There will be gift card giveaways & refreshments served as well. If you have any questions, please email the College Adviser, Ms. James at rfjames@martin.k12.nc.us. Hope to see you there!
  • Senior Conferences will begin this week.  Please make sure to check your email to sign up for an appointment with your school counselor. Parents are strongly recommended to attend.  It is extremely important you attend, we discuss your credits and graduation requirements as you prepare for the end of your senior year. Please contact your school counselor with any questions.
  • The Patriots of the American Revolution DAR High School Essay Contest is now available to grades 9-12.  Chapters select one essay as the chapter winner. Chapters will honor the chapter winner and all participants.  Please submit your essay no later than October 30th, 2022.  Please see your counselor for additional information.
  • The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to offer over 26 different scholarships for graduating high school seniors through the online application portal.  Please go to https://dar.academicworks.com/  Scholarship applications are accepted from November 1, 2022 through January 31, 2023 at 11:59PM.  Please see your counselor or Ms. James for additional information.
  • Please check https://studentscholarships.org/newletters for over 18 scholarship programs available to North Carolina Students, and more than 850 individual scholarships will be awarded.  Please see your counselor or Ms James for more information.
  • Please make sure to consistently check the RHS Student Services website for updated scholarship information, announcements, to make appointments with the counselors, college advisor, and MCC Liaison, and much more.  You can find it at https://sites.google.com/view/riversidestudentservices/home
  • Fall baseball workouts will begin on Tuesday at 4:30.  Please make sure you have all forms updated in Finalforms.  Any questions, please see Coach Harmon in room 160.
  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have an interest meeting Monday in Wester’s room during Knight Lunch C. This will be a service oriented club. Please sign up if interested!
  • FFA BBQ plates will be going on sale Monday 9/19 through 10/5. Plates are $10 and will be supporting the high school FFA chapter. Students can pick up tickets and order forms from Mrs. Smith  at the IC.
