WRIGHT FLIGHT

Martin County Wright Flight is a non-profit education organization and a partnership between the Martin County Airport Commission and Martin County Schools.  The program provides an opportunity for fifth grade students to set academic and behavior goals and learn about aviation history and principles.

Students who pledge to and remain drug and alcohol-free, meet their behavioral and academic goals, take a short course on aviation and meet minimum mastery on a test earn the opportunity to fly in a plane around Martin County.

The program began four years ago as a pilot project serving East End and Edna Andrews Elementary Schools.  It has grown over the years to include all elementary schools in Martin County.

Martin County Schools is very grateful to the Airport Commission and to all the businesses and organizations along with the Board of Commissioners that have financially supported the program and also grateful to all the volunteers and pilots who have graciously donated their time to the program.  We extend a very special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Powell for their vision in making Wright Flight a reality for Martin County!!

THANKS!!
