CEUS FOR LICENSE RENEWAL (SPRING 2024 & BEYOND)
In early 2024, the CEU requirements for license renewal were changed by the State Board of Education. While a total of at least 8 CEUs is still required to renew, Digital Learning CEUs are not required.
The MCS Board of Education may institute a Digital Learning CEU requirement at the local level, but that would not affect those who renew in Spring 2024. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
Teachers of Grades PreK-5
Three (3) in Academic Subject Area ("content") aligned to NC Professional Teaching Standards 3 and 4.
Three (3) in Literacy.
Enough total credits to equal at least eight (8).
Teachers of Grades 6-12
Four (4) in Academic Subject Area ("content") aligned to NC Professional Teaching Standards 3 and 4.
Enough total credits to equal at least eight (8).
Student Services Personnel (including those assigned to Elementary Schools)
Four (4) in Professional Discipline Area aligned to Standards 3 and 4.
Enough total credits to equal at least eight (8).
School & District Administrators
Four (4) aligned to the Executive's Role.
Enough total credits to equal at least eight (8).
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ADDING A NEW TEACHING AREA TO YOUR LICENSE?
If you have a clear license in any area, you may add any other area to your license simply by:
Passing the Praxis II or Pearson test(s) for the area, or
Completing 24 semester hours with grade C or better in the content area.
