Martin County Schools was recently awarded a capital needs grant in the amount of

$5.3 million.   Funds provided through this grant will be used to construct a

Career-Technical Education Center adjacent to the NC Telecenter.  Superintendent

Chris Mansfield reports that the project has been in development for some time and

is a collaboration between the county commissioners, the board of education, Martin

Community College, and the Martin County Economic Development Corporation.  "We

are excited to receive these funds.  The career center will provide new technical learning

labs for students and boost workforce development for the county.  This facility will

provide exciting new opportunities for students as well as serve as a model of collaboration

between the community college, county government, and economic development.  We

are grateful for these grant funds and look forward to getting this project off the ground.!"
