Kindergarten:

Math:

NC.K.OA.1:  Represent addition and subtraction, with 10

NC.K.OA.2:  Solve addition and subtraction word problems, within 10, using objects or drawings to represent the problem, when solving.

NC.K.OA.5 Demonstrate fluency with addition and subtraction within 5

NC.K.CC.5:  Count to answer “How many?” in the following situations

  • Given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.  

  • Given up to 20 objects, name the next successive number when an object is added, recognizing the quantity is one more/greater

  • Given 20 objects arranged in a line, a rectangular array, and a circle, identify how many.

  • Given 10 objects in a scattered arrangement, identify how many

ELA:

  • RL.K.1 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about details in a text.

  • RL.K.2 With prompting and support, retell familiar stories, including key details.

  • RI.K.4 Identify the front cover, back cover, and title page of a book.

  • RF.K4c Read common high-frequency words by sight


3rd Grade ELA:

For the next 2 weeks we will be reading Charlotte’s Web in class.

Throughout this novel study we will be reviewing:

  • Character Traits

  • Story Elements

  • Figurative Language

  • Sequencing

  • Main Idea

  • Cause and Effect

  • Summarizing

  • Context Clues

Music Objectives: 

K-We will be working on steady beat, playing instruments with mallets, and learning about traditional Irish music.

1-We will be working on singing higher and lower pitches with proper technique and using iconic notation to show the difference between higher and lower pitches.  Also, we will be learning about traditional Irish music.

2 and 3-We will begin learning about the ukulele and playing the open strings.  Students will be able to identify the parts of the instrument and play a song that only uses the open strings of the ukulele.

4 and 5-We will be working on interpreting musical notation on the recorder.  Students will be going through the process of learning new songs in small groups.

Art Objectives:

K & 1:  Execute control of a variety of media. 

2nd: Recognize characteristics of a variety of media.

3rd: Create art from realistic sources of inspiration.

4th: Apply skills and concepts learned in other disciplines, such as math, science, language arts, social studies, and other arts, in the visual arts. 

5th: Create art using the processes of drawing, painting, weaving, printing, stitchery, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, and current technology.
