Policy on Face Coverings

K-5

According to NC state guidelines and recommendations from the CDC, all students from Kindergarten through 12th grade and all teachers, staff, and adult visitors are required to wear face coverings in school buildings, on buses, and on school grounds when they are or may be within 6 feet of another person.

Face coverings are required for all students and staff unless the person (or family member, for a student) states that an exception applies (with documentation), is eating, or is engaged in strenuous physical activity and able to maintain 6 feet distance from other people.

A cloth face covering is a material that covers the nose and mouth. It can be secured to the head with ties or straps or simply wrapped around the lower face. It can be made of a variety of materials, such as cotton, silk, or linen.  All students and staff will be provided a pack of 5 plain white face coverings.

Face coverings shall not have written messages on them.  Any face covering that is offensive to others or causes a disruption to the school day will not be allowed.
