April 13th - 17th

- Monday, April 13th is a holiday.  Students are not expected to complete assignments; however, if parents are off and want to get ahead, you are certainly welcome to do so.  Please note, however, that our teachers are off and may not respond to any questions or comments that are sent to them until Tuesday.
- If your child has internet access and a computer, they are expected to get at least 45 minutes of iReady Reading and 45 minutes of iReady Math per week. (Students are most successful when they work in 15 minute chunks of time instead of completing all minutes at one time.)  This tool is one of the ways that your child is being assessed. iReady is open for students to complete online instruction 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. All of our students, 2nd grade and above, should be able to log-in to iReady without any assistance.  Kindergarten and 1st graders may need help logging in, but know what to do independently, once they are logged in.
- We would like to give a "shout out" to Mrs. Stokes's students. Last week 20/21 students got 30 or more minutes in iReady Reading and 17/21 got 30 minutes or more in iReady Math. In math, 100% of the students who took lessons passed them!
- AR is open Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm for students to take tests.  It is not currently open on the weekends. Books are available online at EPIC. Please contact your teacher for their log-in information.
- We know that many of our parents are still working and remote learning has presented its challenges.  Please know that our teachers are working very hard to find a balance in the appropriate amount of work to send to students. With that being said, our teachers are evaluating the work that is being sent home for students to complete. It is imperative that students are completing the work that is being sent home to the best of their ability. Teachers will use information obtained from work at home packets to help determine your child's placement for next school year. If your child does not complete any of the work, the teachers will have no choice, but to recommend retention. It is imperative that all students attempt to complete and submit work to teachers.
- MCS has established several "park and learn" sites where internet access is available if you do not have it at home.  A full list of sites is posted on the MCS webpage and the RES webpage.
- If you do not have a computer at home, please contact the school.  We have distributed all the computers that were initially provided to us; however, we have started a waiting list if and when additional computers become available.
- Lastly, thank you for all you are doing to support your child at home.  We miss our students and wish that they were here for us to provide the instruction to them. We sincerely hope that students will return to school on May 18th.  In the interim, please stay healthy and safe.
We hope that you have had a Happy Easter!
